Gluten-Free Girl book-signing was SO much fun!

Shauna James Ahern, gf- blogger and author, honored us today with a visit to celebrate her new book, Gluten-Free Girl.

Shauna chats with some of the guests

We worried the turn-out would be as dismal as the weather on this rainy Super-Bowl Sunday, but to our delight, Angelinos packed into our little retail area to meet Shauna and take home autographed copies of her book.

[One woman told me she had called bookstores all over the city but they were all sold out, she finally found a copy in Borders El Segundo yesterday, where she purchased it and brought it with her because she was worried Shauna would run out. Luckily, supplies sufficed, and I was able to score a copy for myself at the end. Yes!]

See more photos of the event …..

Shauna radiates joy, and health, and passion for people and for good food.

Three’s a crowd in our little shop - there must have been 18 people in there at one point!

Shauna already knew Suzanne Frieder, leader of the West LA chapter of the Celiac Disease Foundation, who also honored us today by coming. In fact, we’d like to thank everyone who did brave the puddles to make this the rocking party that it was.

That reminds me, I wanted to remind you that the next Westside CDF support group meeting will be held here at the Sensitive Baker on Sunday, March 9. We’ll be serving Afternoon Tea, with sandwiches and other goodies. ($10 donation per person.)

Since we can only sit 12 comfortably, we’ll have two consecutive meetings. First group starts at 2:00 and the second at 4:00. To sign-up, please email Suzanne at sfrieder@earthlink. net and let her know which meeting you want to attend.

We’re looking forward to seeing you then!

    Hi Girls!

Looks like it was fun! That is sooo cool that people can just stop by and pick up a fancy cake. Wow! I want a Yoda cake too! : ) Next time I’m in town I’m going to order a Hello Kitty cake!

    Cute pics of Shauna.

    Best,

    Kelly

Hi, Kelly & Sally! Thanks for writing!

I don’t know if Shauna is doing an official tour, but maybe you could bring her out.

Kelly, you know we would be honored to bake you a cake!

  4. Kate Says:

Is Shauna planning on another visit!? I am bummed I missed this! I love her book.

Kate: Sorry I took so long to get back to you. YES! (I love that word!) Shauna IS coming back to LA - she’ll be here for the Celiac Disease Foundation’s Annual Conference & Food Faire, Saturday May 3rd, link http://www.celiac.org/newsEvents/conference2008.php

which ANYWAY is an event you should NOT MISS!!

(Unless, of course, like me, you promised yourself you’d go and then found out that as the owner of a Kosher establishment you really couldn’t be showing up to public Food Faires that are held downtown on Saturday. And then, like me, you’d be DOUBLE BUMMED!!)
