Wesley is the bomb!Just to give inquiring minds the conclusion to a lot of unfinished business:

Wesley, our new cake decorator, started yesterday and already we have extra cakes for purchase in the retail store, something that’s never happened before and is much appreciated during the holiday crunch! Need a last minute dessert? Come on down!

Online store is functioning again, bread is back on the menu, but we have to add a $12 “handling” fee to cover the packaging materials for frozen food. But, here’s a cool thing: We’ll also send a slip for UPS to take the box back. Just leave the box outside your door the next day, and your friend in brown shorts will take care of the rest.

If you send the styrofoam cooler (& its outer box, and the blue ice) back to us; then next time you order, you’ll pay only the cost of the return shipping. For example, say the new cooler etc. is $12 and it had cost only $7 to send the empty box back to us. Your handling charge will only be $7, a $5 savings. (Just, please, don’t rip up the outer box, we need that too.)

Including UPS charges of perhaps $9 to get you the new, full box, you’ll pay a total of only $16 shipping and handling on your next order. (Typical, for LA county - your mileage may vary.) And just send the next box back again, to continue saving!

Also, think of the good you’ll be doing the environment by not requiring a new giant styrofoam box every time you ship.

Longer hours for the retail store begin in January. Wesley is willing to stay until 6pm, Monday - Thursday, but he has to settle in first. We’ll still close Fridays at 2pm for the upcoming sabbath, but we’ll make it up Sundays 10am-2pm.

Which reminds me, HOLIDAY HOURS: we’re closed Saturday Dec 22 through Tuesday Dec 25. We re-open Wednesday Dec 26 10am-2pm.

We’re also closed Saturday Dec 29 - Tuesday Jan 1. We re-open Wednesday Jan 2 10am-2pm.

And then longer hours will start the next week, Monday Jan 7 10am-6pm.

And then, G-d willing, we’ll start serving lunch Monday Jan 14. Only Mon - Thurs 11:30am-2pm, and please check this website for more details in January!

Last thing: Holiday pies, it seems, weren’t so awful after all - we spoke to about 40 people who took the majority of the Thanksgiving pies, and only two people accepted refunds (exchanges, actually.) (And they were both very gracious about it.) And Coach E came back and we fixed the challah issue. So that’s all settled.

And that’s it! Tomorrow I’ll edit and put up a picture of the cakes on display. Today was a crazy day.
